Srinagar, Oct 17 (KNO): SSP Srinagar Dr G V Sandeep Chakravarty on Saturday called for greater youth participation in constructive activities, saying young people should spend more time in libraries and playgrounds and stay away from drugs and other harmful influences. “Youth should be busy in libraries and playgrounds rather than in negative energies,” Dr Chakravarty said, according to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO). He said Jammu and Kashmir Police would organise cricket tournaments across all districts in October under its civic action programme to engage youth in constructive activities and keep them away from drugs. “The main aim of this project is to keep our youth, who are the future of our country and the strength of our society, busy in constructive activities and to keep them away from negative energies like social media and drugs,” he said. The SSP said the programme would also include volleyball, indoor games and debates to provide youth with opportunities for positive engagement. He said J&K Police was conducting civic action programmes across districts and would organise more such activities to strengthen its engagement with youth. Dr Chakravarty congratulated the participants and said police would continue to support initiatives aimed at preventing drug abuse and engaging youth in constructive activities—(KNO)
